Appleton Park Dental offers a variety of professional teeth whitening treatments to brighten your smile, either at the practice or in the comfort of your own home.
How do teeth whitening products work?
Teeth whitening gels incorporate varying concentrations of hydrogen or carbamide peroxide. These chemicals help dissolve stains and lighten your teeth.
Can teeth whitening treatments remove all types of stains?
Teeth whitening treatments typically remove surface stains caused by tobacco, tea, coffee, red wine, and certain food products. More deep-seated discolouration may require veneers or crowns.
Will teeth whitening work on my restorations?
Teeth whitening products won’t work on veneers, crowns, bridges, or partial dentures. If you decide to whiten your teeth, you may need to replace your restorations, so they match the new colour of your teeth.
What’s the difference between over-the-counter and dentist-prescribed whitening systems?
Many of the over-the-counter whitening products you can buy at a supermarket or chemist have not undergone the same rigorous testing as the products we recommend to our patients.
It is easy to misapply over-the-counter products, and the whitening trays may not fit your teeth properly. The bleaching gels can irritate your gums if they aren’t used correctly.
Teeth whitening is safe under the supervision of your dentist. You will be fitted for custom-made whitening trays, and taught how to administer the bleaching gel for the safest and most effective results.
How long will the results last?
The longevity of your whitening results will vary depending on your diet and standard of oral hygiene. To keep your smile brighter for longer avoid food and drink that could stain your teeth, and don’t smoke.
Which teeth whitening treatments do you provide?
At Appleton Park Dental, we offer Boutique Whitening and Enlighten™ Evolution to our patients seeking safe and effective teeth whitening.
Boutique Whitening can enhance the appearance of your smile safely and effectively. It gradually whitens your teeth over 2-4 weeks.
There are several different formulas available in the Boutique Whitening range. Boutique by Day contains hydrogen peroxide for rapid results, while Boutique by Night is a gentler, slower-acting carbamide peroxide solution.
Your dentist will fit you for a bespoke-made whitening tray. You will fill the tray with the Boutique Whitening gel and wear it for the recommended time. This could be as little as one hour a day or overnight.
Enlighten™ Evolution guarantees your teeth will achieve the lightest naturally occurring shade of white on the Vita tooth colour scale, B1.
First, your dentist will have a custom-fit whitening tray made for you.
At home, you will simply apply the carbamide peroxide whitening gel to the tray and wear it at night for two weeks. Then you will return for a follow-up appointment where your dentist will apply an extra-strength finishing treatment.

The government announced that from Monday 8th of June, restrictions on Dental Practices seeing patients for face-to-face appointments will be lifted in England.
We are incredibly pleased to be able to see our patients again, and we are working very hard to ensure that the Practice is a safe and well-equipped environment for us to deliver the dental care needed.
However, we would like to make it clear that we are following a phased return during the following weeks;
This means we do not have an open-door policy, and we are not yet at the point at which routine appointments can be made.
As you can imagine, with every Dental Practice in the country gearing up to return, there is an immense strain on our PPE supply chain, and so we can only provide emergency dental care with a skeleton staff to begin with, whist we implement our new protocols and source the required PPE.
We will keep you updated on our progress and readiness to book Check-ups, Hygienist appointments and other appointments over the coming weeks.
Until then, we would kindly request that only those with a genuine dental emergency or pain ring the practice and leave a message briefly describing the problem.
A dentist will then assess and advice on the best course of action over a telephone call first.
If it is agreed that you need to attend the Practice, our Receptionists will explain in detail what to expect on arrival, and all our new protocols.
These emergency patients along with those who have been cancelled midway through treatment, are the ones who will be contacted as a priority. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
I hope you have been keeping well and I look forward to seeing you soon.
